If walls could talk, what would they say?
Would they speak of the highs and lows that day?
Would they tell all the secrets they are meant to keep?
Or would they hide the truths without uttering the slightest peep?
Would they share what happened behind a closed door?
Or would they stand completely stoic and pretend to ignore?
No doubt they have experiences galore
Tales of people from generations before
Walls keep us safe from the elements outside,
They are strong, observant, and unable to hide.
They block out the wind that likes to billow around,
But walls connect our dwelling place to solid ground.
Because of walls, a space is bound
Like a huddle, a space they surround.
If walls could speak of what they saw that special night,
their words wouldn’t do justice to God’s power and might.
They would shout and exclaim “The King is finally here!
The Snake-Crusher has come, we need not fear!”
If the Lord is our shelter and shelters have walls,
We are protected even through the bumps, bruises, and falls.
The One has come to deliver death it’s defeat
No longer is the curse incomplete.
